2025: Accelerating towards a Viksit Bharat

Four years ago, when the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted global economies, it highlighted the vulnerabilities in supply chain networks worldwide. This disruption became a wake-up call, pushing governments and businesses to prioritise resilience and agility in their logistics operations.

By 2024, these efforts began to bear fruit, with several notable trends and advancements reshaping the industry. However, the ongoing geopolitical crisis and supply chain disruptions continued to pose several challenges before the industry. As we enter the new year, the industry stands at the crossroads, with both opportunities and challenges on the horizon. The lessons of 2024 reaffirm the importance of adaptability, collaboration, and innovation in building a future-ready logistics and supply chain network.

Infrastructure will play a key role
Year 2024 can be called as a year of transformation. Significant progress was made in port modernisation and rail-road connectivity, ensuring seamless transitions between different modes of transport. During the year, the government also announced several key projects integrating road, rail, sea, and air to provide cost-effective and sustainable ways to move goods.

The year also witnessed some of the key projects coming on track or getting the necessary boost. Some of these include the ambitious Rs 76,200 crore Vadhvan port project, the Navi Mumbai International Airport, the Jewar International Airport, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link and the Vizhinjam International Seaport, among others. All these projects, once operational are set to position India as a global trade hub.
